An Obie Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone,The Vagina Monologues introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who “liked to look at it.”

The UWM Women's Resource Center has hosted an annual performance of The Vagina Monolouges since 2001. All proceeds benefit the Hmong American Women's Association (HAWA). HAWA was founded in 1993 to advocate, organize, and share concerns reflected by women in the Hmong community. They provide programs for youth and children, services for domestic violence and sexual assault, and offer community education trainings.
